The Pouf -Is Making A Comeback This Season

If you've seen latest hairstyling of models and sopoof-hairstyleciliates with hair that bulges upwards at the crown and wondered what that was all about, it's called a pouf. It's the French revolution look all over again, with the pouf making a comeback everywhere.

"A pouf is simply a bump or an elevated section of the hair,"

How To Make It:
This is usually done by lifting up a portion of the locks just above the crown and securing it with bobby pins." Not only is the hairstyle a simple one and easy to produce, the best part is that people of any age or face shape can opt for it.
"There is really no age restriction, unlike other hairstyles. Those who have a round face would be advised to opt for a slightly elevated pouf, so that it elongates their features and adds some drama. If you've got an oval or long face, you could go in for a slight bump that will add a subtle variation,"
"You can wear a pouf for any occasion -- formal or informal. For instance, if you're heading for an evening-dress occasion, the pouf needs to be a little more obvious elevated and the rest of your hair needs to be properly styled.

But if it's a casual party you're party you're attending, simply pull your hair up into a pouf and leave the rest of your hair as it is.avril-lavigne-pouf-hairstyle-wh

According to the occasion, you can add a little spice to this bulge by positioning it differently -either right on top of your crown, a little behind it or between the crown and the nape of the neck. The only difference is that those with wavy or curly hair will have to use hairspray or a hair iron to hold the bump in place.
And don't forget to accessories it -- which will take it from a plain hairstyle to something that immediately grabs attention." Get it right Pick about a two-inch wide section of your hair right from the top of the crown.Spray some volumising spray or mousse on to this to make it look thicker.

Now take a huge, round brush and wrap the hair around it.Blow dry over this so that it sets.

Next, smoothen out the hair to make sure you don't leave out any loose ends.Gather the hair and pull it backwards, adjust the shape, height and position as per your wish and secure with bobby pins.

Updated Trends

Five trends you may take from the recent Fashion Week to your closet.

Mini Dress alice-olivia-mini-dress.jpg

Hemlines and necklines have receded so drastically that the little dress now just about covers your bottom , and leaves neck and shoulders bare.Drapery forms bows , corsages at the shoulders and pleats keep it feminine.Evening dresses are the shorter they have been in this decade.

Patterned Tights

The next level in tights is inhabited by textures and metallic colours. Gunmetal ,faux leather,fausexy_stockings_10x crocodile and snake-skin textures and colours, checks and those with the buckles and the ankles .If you can find them ,bright colours in a slightly diaphanous fabric will add that pop of colour to a plain tunic or dress.Taut, they must reach your ankle and not not above or below, and particularly should not gather in to a churidaar .If you intend to travel, you could even get a pair of stockings in a bright print to wear under a short dress or skirt.

How To Wear

Shrug on a green or blue chikan-kaari tunic over metallic tights, with a cropped cotton or denim jacket.Seal the deal with huaraches ,ankle –length boots or gladiator sandals.

Formal Shorts

Shorts have moved from Goa-Wear into offices, shortsunder formal shirts .B ut these are more tailored than cut-off jeans .Formal shorts are constructed like trousers with fold-up hems ,pleats and button-tab belts. They can be high or low waisted ,with a sash or tulip hemmed.Treating them like trousers ,wear them under formal shirts or blousons, left un-tucked .The colours are of the boardroom-beige,browns,black and pin-striped creams. In keeping with the corporate look, wear a boyfriend jacket ,cork heeled pumps, waistcoat or ankle-length gladiator sandals and hang a soft bag on your elbow.

How To Wear

A pair of beige shorts that stop high on the thigh and have rolled or folded up hems.If they have pleats on the waist to keep them baggy, even better.

Bushy Eyebrows

Firmly stationed in the grips of an 80s revival, facial hair art is decidedly thicker.Eyebrows are bushier, though still well shaped .They start closer at the bridge of the brow and grow out longer.Combing them at the thicker end will make them spikier.Think ,not kajol.Brooke Shields

How TO Wear

Let your brow grow out a month and ask your stylist to leave them two lines thicker than usual and forgo the scissor’s trim .Don't go for a dramatic over growth, just decide what you are comfortable with.

Metallic Chains

With glam rock on the ramp and off it,can chains be far behind? Turning moda-con-puntas-metalicasaway from pure gold and silver, bronze, pewter and tarnished gun metal chains are used as embellishments on jackets labels, shoulders of dresses and jump-suits and around the waist . Hang clutches of safety-pins at strategic places for a more raw look.Mind that these are the only accessories you wear with your ensemble.

How to wear it

Meters of dull gold chains that can be versatile for the waist and neck.skip pendants or charms

The Plastic ‘PUPPY’ Sandals (2009)

23_08_2009_106_002_013  This summer a number of top designers have made it possible for customers to revisit a summer staple that many thought would forever remain a childhood memory: the plastic sandal.

Brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, See by Chloé an23_08_2009_106_002_011d Tory Burch have all added plastic footwear to their collections.

Behind this new designer interest in plastic, or jelly, shoes are children's shoes and the sandal brand Crocs. Even though they are not plastic , Crocs are seen by many as a modern take on jelly sandals.

"Because of Crocs these molded plastic shoes are now widely accepted footwear, which makes it O.K. for designers to come out with their own styles.

The modern versatility of plastic has lead to imaginative shoes in new shapes and colours. These include chunky high-heeled strappy sandals from Sigerson Morrison, Lacoste shoes with a curlicue strap designed with Zaha Hadid, Kartell's cherry red flats and Chanel's translucent black camellia-covered san dals.

Vampire Look With Red Blood..

VAMPIRE LOOK Red lips have always been a symbol of sensuality, and now with the Twilight wave sweeping all over the world. Blood red lips or vampire lips are already making a statement, here is how to get it right if you want to jump on to the bandwagon.

There are a huge variety of red hues, so make sure you pick yours carefully. There are reds with a hint of black, purple or even blue so pick one that matches your skin.

Primp your lips by cleaning it with moisturiser to wipe away all the dry skin.

Since we're looking at volume -apply the colour straight from the tube don't use a brush Finish up with some clear gloss to make your lips stand out.

Always use a lip liner, otherwise the colour will bleed and you will end up looking like a vampire.

Do not use blush -- it takes away from the red on the lips.

An extremely pale face is a must, so it's alright to overdo the foundation a little.

For the eyes: Go with a winged eyeliner look, preferably only on the upper lid as even adding a line of kajal will make your eyes look too dark.

Clothes For Multi-Task

With personal and professional lives blurring due to extended work hours, it is apt to go in for clothes which can `multi-task' and have a smart, casual appeal.

  • Here are some tips on how to select such outfits: The choice of your clothes depends a lot on your office ambience. But jackets are a perfect bet to get a funky yet relaxed look. With the shoulder padding jackets , one can opt for two button jackets with different cuts and styles like low shawl collar etc. It's all about the kind of detailing.
  • Women can pay emphasis on thin belts and scarves to lift up their office look and look all set to even hit a pub after work. Wear sleek and trendy jewellery.
  • scarves on a formal shirt looks very graceful for office and a party.
  • High waisted skirts with well-cut blouses look smart. Choose between closed-toe shoes, pumps and mid heel sandals.
  • Men can loosen up a little on weekends and go in for jeans, tees and camouflage shoes. Lightweight fabrics like washed linen and wrinkle resistant clothes can help you look presentable.

The Young Achiever... Miss Universe 2009

Stefania Fernandez

Suspense, glamour, loud applause and surprised expressions, the scene at the Miss Universe 2009 crowning ceremony was no different from before -- except the most beautiful woman in the world this year is a teenager from Venezuela.
sizzled on the stage ,this young achiever has inspired many teens across the world to emulate her in their chosen fields.

High Waist Pants Are In…

Trousers

This is a fashion trend for petite young girls with a lot of confidence. High waist pants are in, and every fashionista worth her `waist' is lapping it up to the last `t'. With flared bottoms or with tapering ends, these pants which accentuate your mid-riff and are a takeoff from the 80s' fashion are making huge waves in the fashion circles. At dinner parties or at formal dose, these pants will get you all the attention that you want, and much more. A pair of high waist pants in classic black is a wise investment this season.
Sport them with formal shirts at dress-up occasions and have everyone admiring your svelte figure. So give those jeans a break and make everyone look your way with these pants.

Feet Essentials For Guys….

Nothing out of the ordinary...

Just five shoes that men should own IT IS SO ESSENTIAL TO GET THE RIGHT PAIR THAT CAN BE A REAL DEAL MAKERguys1

Buying shoes is always going to be a headache for men -- they're expensive, tricky to get right and it takes hours to find the right pair. Moreover poor quality shoes can lead to foot, ankle and a whole lot of other pains. Yet it is so essential to get the right pair of shoes that can be a real deal maker. Whether it's smartening up the shabbiest of outfits or just make you feel comfortable.

So what does your shoe rack need to ensure you're prepared for every occasion? We break it down for you with the help of ace designers from across the country.

Formal: "The black, leather Oxford shoe is ubiquitous in the West. A pair of good quality brogues (low-heeled shoes made of heavy leather) can set you back a couple of rupees, but it's very essential to own at least one.

They can even last you a decade or more if treated right! If you want to try out something a little different, complement a simple pair with a matching pair in tan, brown, even grey. From everyday business to weddings.

Go for ankle footwear. Since pants are getting shorter, ankle footwear looks really good."

Sneakers/Trainers: The cornerstone of casual footwear.

"A good pair of sneakers should feel comfortable but sporty."

Informal: Slip guys2on loafers and moccasins are incredibly stylish, but a little more casual. These are great for a night on the town, a relaxed date or even meeting colleagues outside of work hours. They tend to be sleeker and slimmer than formal shoes, but still look sharp and chic.

Boots: "If you're an outdoors person, you've got to get your boots right. Comfort yet durability is the key while looking at boots (although a pair of rubber boots probably won't be that bad either!).

Slippers/sandal's: I think kolhapuri chappals and flip flops go with both Western and Indian wear. Shoes are not appropriate for the weather. Since they are so closed, they're not suited for Indian weather.Ideally they should wear chappals. These go with any kind of clothes . "Flips flops are the way to go.
